Barbara Hepworth was one of the great Modernist Artists. The true depth of her contribution to art and our understanding of contemporary aesthetics is difficult to measure, because she was a pioneer in the global shift away from representational art. She was an outspoken, bold artist, in a time when art was completely dominated by men with giant works, giant fame, and giant egos. Barbara was a beautifully feminine woman, with great sensitivity to form, line, space, and color. She commanded her materials with expert precision, and worked tirelessly with a vigor that earned her a place in history as one of the most prolific and important artists of the 20th century.
