the 20″ Stuart Kent Maple Salad Bowl is lightweight and features exceptional grain and figure. Each bowl is meticulously hand finished with my 100% natural, food safe oil and wax blend. The finish is warm and tactile, and when cared for properly, will develop a sumptuous patina.
All wooden bowls should be hand-washed with warm water and mild dish soap and then towel dried. With heavy use or frequent washing the finish can become dull and need to be reconditioned. If this becomes necessary just apply our reconditioning oil liberally with a paper towel and then buff it lightly with a clean paper towel.
Do not ever put a wooden bowl in a dishwasher or it will crack or distort badly and the finish will be ruined. Also, do not leave acidic salad dressings like vinegar in the bowl for prolonged periods of time or they will degrade the finish and can permanently stain the wood. If you use the bowl for displaying fruit, be sure to check it periodically so that the fruit doesn’t start to break down and degrade the finish.
