I recently began teaching private classes at the Stuart Kent & Co. prototyping shop. My most recent student requested to reproduce my hall table, and he actually built this piece. This table is central to the Stuart Kent & Co. design style, so I thought it made an ideal piece to teach with. This iteration of my hall table has a tiger maple top and a mahogany base. The tapered legs splay slightly and feature my signature two-sided spade feet. These hall tables are deceptively challenging to build, and he did an outstanding job in reproducing the piece accurately. He learned advanced machine operation in producing spade feet, and he refined his hand tool techniques along the way. I made a good friend in this student, and look forward to having him in the shop again!
